The now-legendary film of Ari Vatanen’s attempt on the hill at Pikes Peak in the Rocky Mountains, Colorado. On board the Peugeot 405 T16 Vatanen had 600 BHP, 4-wheel drive, 4-wheel steering, giant spoilers and just 900 Kg. He set a new hill record in 1988
Pikes Peak is 12.4 miles long and the peak is at 14,110 feet. To put it in perspective that’s a climb nearly twenty times as long as Prescott and twenty three times higher.
In 1901 the first car to climb to the summit took nine hours. The current hill record, held by Monster Tajima in a 910 BHP special, stands at 10:11.49. Takima returns in 2011 to try to break the ten minute barrier and take a sixth consecutive win
